Kacey Montoya some of the Salem Hospital's officials and found that half of the reported pertussis (whooping cough) cases in Oregon were located in Marion County.The pertussis is a very contagious respiratory disease,spreading trough the air.It can start as a mild cold,but it quickly progresses and it can be a real problem if it's not treated.Kacey Montoya declares that this disease could affect especially small childs or older people,in some causes causing even death.
Kacey Montoya reported that five cases of pertussis have been reported in the last two months in Marion County.All sick infants were hospitalized,but the authorities fear that the disease could spread into the whole Oregon.Altough no one in Marion County died of pertussis,four childrens in Oregon died in the previous years.Kacey Montoya investigated and is now able to say that the main source of infection could be a elder child,more vulnerable to this kind of infections.
